The Mahindra XUV400 Electric will be based on the outgoing Mahindra XUV300 and compete with the Nexon EV and EV Max.
Mahindra is working towards the EV vehicles and they are going to showcase five new electric vehicles on 15-Aug-2022 in the UK. Mahindra has released a teaser on their Youtube channel and showcased all five SUVs/Coupes in the shadow. The announcement of Mahindra XUV400 Electric was already made before the launch of that teaser. So we could expect the launch of a small electric SUV quite soon.
Keeping the spy car in the instance, we can say the XUV400 Electric would underpin the Mahindra XUV300 and shares the major parts of the body, panel, and electricals. It will not be a sub-4-meter SUV, similar to the XUV300; it will be 4.2 meters long and carry more space inside as the wheelbase increases. The overall platform and counterparts would be similar to the SsangYong Tivoli SUV based on the X100 Platform.
The overall design looks similar to the XUV300 but some parts differentiate it from that, such as a redesigned front bumper, revamped front grille, redesigned alloy wheels, and a set of new LED tail lamp.
In contrast to the concept, that was showcased in the 2020 Auto Expo, the similarities are identical, like the front bumper design, the fenders shape and the side look.
The interior of the Mahindra XUV400 Electric also has similarities to the outgoing XUV300. Details of the dashboard includes a dual tone theme, multifunction steering wheel, automatic climate control, push start/stop button, keyless go, a sunroof, front and rear armrest, rear ac vents, and touchscreen infotainment display with AdrenoX features.
It is repoted that Mahindra will source the high-energy dense NMC cells from LG chem, its claimed that these cells are superior than the cylinder LFP cells (available with Tata Nexon EV). These superior cells will empower the Mahindra XUV400 electric with more power and long range run.
It is expected that the Mahindra XUV400 Electric would give a complete charge range of upto 400 kms. With this range and power from the electric motor makes this mid size EV a more competant condentor in the segment. After the launch, the XUV400 Electric will compete with the MG ZS EV and Tata Nexon EV, EV Max.
