One of the rugged product of Toyota is the Hilux. It’s a pickup truck meant for the extreme tasks. The India launch of Toyota Hilux is under evaluation and might be happened in the upcoming year 2021. It is an upgraded version of its predecessor Toyota Hilux 2019 and does get rugged built quality, maintenance-free ownership, and great reliability. The Hilux pick-up truck is likely to be more expensive, luxury, and feature-loaded. We can compare it with the ongoing Isuzu D-max V-cross that fits in 20 lakh prices bracket.
What does it get in the Exterior?
On the first eye, it looks quite identical to the Fortuner but it is way longer than that by having a length of 5,285 mm. The Toyota Hilux is built on the IMV platform in which the Toyota Fortuner and Innova have made. It also shares multiple parts like- engine, gearbox, suspension system, and four-wheel drive train.
The front has a bold wide grille finished in black, some black details on the bumper, and setup of projector headlamps along with DRLs. The bumper shaped rounded that increases its approach and departure angle. On the side, it gets a set of 18 inches blacked-out alloy wheels, side body cladding, footsteps, and chrome garnish on door handles and ORVMs.
The rear of Toyota Hilux has a complete loading deck of 1.5-1.5 meters that can also be covered with a shelf to use in rainy seasons. The spare wheels tyres are places underneath the loading deck and it is a full size 18 inches.
What does it get in the Interior?
Toyota is never known to its interiors but it’s known for its interior ruggedness and long-lasting life. On this Toyota Hilux which might launch in India carries all basic specs include- climate control, touchscreen infotainment system, MID in the instrument cluster, and center locking. Apart from this, the front would be good in comfort for bumpy roads and offroading but the rear row might have a bit low knee room because of the big loading deck. Expect this, overall it’ll offer decent comfort and space for two peoples.
Powertrain options in Toyota Hilux?
The Hilux shares multiple parts with Fortuner and Innova. The engine options are the same which we get in these two cars- 2.4-liter diesel and 2.8-liter diesel. However, the engines are tuned for different settings and weather conditions. The low-end torque in the first three gears is increased immensely at 500nm and the bhp figures are 148 and 169 mated to a 6-Speed manual and a 6-Speed automatic transmission.
Toyota Hilux India launch and expected pricing?
Currently, there aren’t any official announcements are made by Toyota India for the Hilux but is expected to be launch in the upcoming 2021. This will take direct competition with the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross, which is the only pickup truck available at the price range of Rs 20 lakh. If the Toyota Hilux launch in India then it would be expected to price between 16-20 lakh Ex-showroom.
