The Tiago will become the most affordable EV car in Tata’s line after the Tigor.
With the EV market share of more than 80%, Tata is ruling the segment with their Nexon EV and Tigor EV. Now to expand its fleet, they are going to launch the EV version of Tata Tiago and alongside Tata is planning to introduce 10 new electric cars in the upcoming future.
The Tata Tigor EV and Nexon EV are performing well in the market and so the homegrown brand is focusing on adding more products in the lineup to cater to every segment of buyers. Tata Tiago EV Launch
As of now, the Tata Tigor EV is the most affordable EV in the lineup, while with the launch the Tata Tiago EV will come in the first place. The Tiago EV will use a similar battery pack to the Tigor EV, which is a 26 kWh battery pack with a total range of 306 km. The range of the Tiago EV will be slightly more due to the reduction of weight because of the body shape and the power-to-weight ratio will also increase.
If we look at the Nexon EV, it uses a 30.2 kWh battery pack with a 312 km range. but the power here is 127 bhp and 245 Nm, which is way more than Tigor at 75 bhp and 170 Nm.
The Tiago EV will feature the advanced Ziptron high voltage architecture that consists of a magnet synchronous electric motor along with the lithium-ion battery pack. The advanced battery packs are compliant with IP67 water resistant and dustproof, similar to the Tigor EV and Nexon EV.
What do Tata officials say?
Shailesh Chandra, MD, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicle Ltd, and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd said ” Company is leading in the EV market with a major share of 88%. As of now, the EV lineup contains two EV modes – Nexon EV and Tigor EV. With its new phase of EV market expansion. We’ll offer easy driving, affordability, a silent cabin, and low cost of ownership.”
Tata EV Launch Plans
Tata is rigorously working in the EV segment and capturing the market fastly. However, the Tata cars are also capable and perform great with the buyers in the day-to-day tasks. The charging can be done through the home-fitted small unit or the commercial fast charger.
The range of the EV car depends on several factors such as outside temperature, occupants in the cars, cargo weight, driving behavior, and traffic conditions. In these driving conditions, you can get a range of 200-300 km, and in some EV Max versions, the range is even more. After the Tiago EV launch, it is expected that the next EV product will be the Altroz EV.
