Polo GT TSI Overview

Volkswagen has launched the Polo GT TSI in the Indian market. This edition is based on the Highline version of the existing Polo. By the launch of Polo Volkswagen discontinued the 1.2 ltr TSI petrol and 1.5 ltr TDI diesel engines and introduced a new 1.0 ltr TSI three-cylinder motor mated to a 6-Speed manual and 6-Speed torque converter automatic transmission as optional. This is the only car in the Indian market which has a DSG gearbox at this price point. Now point is to wait that, In future what Volkswagen will do with polo.


The Polo GT TSI is based on the Highline version of Polo. You’ll get the same design language, but some cosmetic changes are there, but it’s not that identical. In 2020, this is the only car that doesn’t offer projector headlamp and DRLs, but who cares when if offers you mind-numbing performance, but it doesn’t lack any features it got all like – Alloys wheels, auto-folding outside rearview mirrors, keyless entry and a lot more.

However, you’ll get a sticker placed from the front door to the rear door written GT TSI over there and blacked out ORVMs. Except for these two changes, the design remains the same.


It got all the bells and whistles which the Highline model carries like- Automatic climate control, automatic wipers, Electric adjustable ORVMs, touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, a rearview camera, and parking sensors. It is expected that it might come with some new dual-tone color schemes. Which may include some funky and eye-catching color.


Volkswagen discontinued the previous offering 1.2 ltr TSI Petrol and 1.5 ltr TDI diesel engines from the current lineup. Instead of this, A new 1.0 ltr TSI three-cylinder petrol motor is introduced mated to a 6-Speed manual and 6-Speed torque converter automatic transmission as optional. It churns out power figures of 115 bhp of max power and 200 Nm of peak torque. Which kicks in as low as 1750 RPM. This engine is expected to offer more fuel economy. As it has a lower displacement of the engine from its predecessor. The expected mileage figures from this 1.0 ltr TSI engine is 16-18 kmpl.

There isn’t any direct competitor of Polo GT TSI. As all the previous rivals like – Baleno RS and Fiat Abarth punto got discontinued because of upcoming BS6 norms. But buyers also consider Hyundai i20 as a choice because it fits in the same price bracket.
