The piano black inserts around the infotainment system, ac control panel, and steering give a plush feel in the cabin. Also, the seats in the Tiago are best In the segment and do offer great under-thigh and side support. Whereas the Celerio is decently put together but some panel gaps and plastic quality is not good and do feel cheap. Otherwise, the cabin of Celerio is also decent.

Apart from that, both have all the basic features like- steering mounted controls, both front and rear power window with one touch down feature (Driver side door only), rear parking sensors, remote keyless entry, ABS (Anti-Locking Braking System), EBD (Electonic Brakeforce Distribution), child safety lock and front two airbags. Except these, all other details are ups and downs but will not create major gaps to the cabin experience but the overall weight of the cars are pretty different from one another. where the Celerio has 840 kgs and the Tiago has 935-982 kgs (depends to variant).

Performance Celerio vs Tiago:

Celerio vs Tiago
Tiago has two engine options to choose from

If we talk about the engines offered, then the Tata Tiago is offered with two motors, one is 1.2-liter, Revotron, 3-Cylinder petrol motor and the second is 1.1-liter, Revotorq, 3-Cylinder diesel motor. The motor produces a power output of 84.48 BHP of power at 6000 RPM and 113 Nm of peak torque with the petrol motor and 69 BHP of power at 4000 RPM and 140 Nm of peak torque for the diesel motor. Both the engines are available with a 5-Speed manual transmission, while the 4-Speed automatic Torque Converter is only limited to the Petrol variant.

The Maruti Celerio has only a petrol engine that also offered with a CNG fuel system from OEM. The 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder, petrol motor produces 67.04 BHP of maximum power at 6000 RPM and 90 Nm of peak torque at 3500 RPM, whereas with CNG, the engine power output becomes 58.33 BHP and 78 nm Torque, which is reduced by almost 10 BHP and 12 Nm. The single petrol motor comes with a manual 5-Speed transmission and a 4-Speed AGS (Auto Gear Shift Transmission).

Celerio vs Tiago
Comes only in petrol engine option.

There is no diesel option and no CNG options are available in the Maruti Celerio and Tata Tiago, So we should have to remove them from the list. Now, we are only comparing the petrol motor of both cars. The petrol motor of Tiago is more powerful than the Celerio but it doesn’t feel while driving, it could be because of the higher weight of Tiago by almost 100-110 kgs. The motor in the Celerio feels punchy and quickly takes the pace to 80 mph whereas that Tiago has to struggle a bit but when it comes to high speed and stability, then the Tiago is far better and performs stable and under-controlled ride. The engine refinement is more in the Celerio and the Tiago a bit less refined and also vibrations are on the higher side.

Being a small hatchback, the mileage should be on the higher side. Where the Celerio offers an 18-22 kmpl mileage, the Tiago is not too far, it offers 15-22 kmpl (depends on driving).

Conclusion Celerio vs Tiago:

The Tata Tiago and Maruti Celerio both economical cars are good and it is hard to pick up one amongst two. If you are looking for a Diesel/CNG then you can go with Tiago and Celerio but when the choice comes to the Petrol motor then we suggest you choose the Tata Tiago over the Maruti Celerio because it offers a gorgeous exterior and interior with super techy features and comfortable seats. The engine is also more powerful and the car feels stable and high speeds even at 80 or 100 kmph.
