The unveil of Thar has taken place on the online platform with minimal peoples to maintain safety and security. The all-new next-gen offroader is offered with two engine options, two transmission options, and 4×4 as standard. What are the changes we are getting in the exterior?
First or foremost, the design is quite identical to the ongoing old Thar. The front carries a 4 slat grille that resembles the Jeep Wrangler but Ramkripa Anantham, the head of Mahindra Design said “The grille was a touch choice”. There is some difference in the grille. The grille is an insert on the front cowl, rather than the cowl itself having the slots integrated, as on the Jeep Wrangler. Apart from this, it gets the same circular halogen headlamps and the indicators are placed on the wheel arches. The major changes on the front except the grille are the bumper, which is completely redesigned and fog lamps are integrated into it.
The Mahindra Thar 2020 looks stunning on the side. The first thing that catches your attention is the bigger wheels and wider wheel arches. The tyres size is 255/65/R18 that increases its water wading capacity to 650mm. The alloy wheel is a five-spoke unit and comes with a grey finish that looks quite decent with the colour options on offer. One more important thing to know in the Mahindra Thar 2020 is that it’s built on ladder on frame chassis and now getting new suspension setups, on the front, it gets the independent suspension and on the rear, it is equipped with multispoke non-independent suspension.
There will be six colour options to choose from:
