KTM Duke 200 Overview
KTM launched its one of the entry-level naked bikes in India with a new BS6 engine update. They firstly launch Duke 200 as the first bike in India in 2012 by collaborating with Bajaj India. After 8 years a new version is introduced with a lot more tweaks and updates from the previous one. But it lacks the punchy performance. Because power delivery dropped by some percentage while upgrading it to the BS6 norms. Back in the 2012 KTM Duke set up a benchmark of the performance in the naked single-cylinder bike segment by its pure performance and, roaring sound from the exhaust note. While upgrading it to the BS6 norms the KTM Duke 200 Price is hiked by 8,000 approx. Which makes it quite costly.
The styling is on the sharper side, considering the bike type (naked). The color scheme is identical to the KTM line. KTM Duke comes in two color options – Orange & Black and White with orange inserts. The Orange and Black one looks stunning and can be identified from a distance far. The Duke 200 gets the same headlamp setup in 2020 variant as we get in the Duke 125 & 250. The headlamp setup is fully LED and throw a good amount of light in night drives.
There are some major changes which we got in this are large grab grills at the rear end, sharp fearing, large fuel tank, and an engine dust protector guard. The place of the exhaust is changed. Now it again placed in the same place as it was offering in back 2012. But the sound comes from the exhaust is not great like 2012 one, but quite noisy.
The instrument cluster unit is the same in Duke 200 & 250 along with all the features. The cluster is now looking small in size just because the top rubber cover is now removed. It comes with all the handy features like- Fuel gauge, temperature gauge, gear indicator, digital clock, neutral gear indicator, RPM meter, engine warning, average fuel economy, and two trip meters. The ABS status is a newly added feature but quality seems lacking as there is a bit of cost-cutting but overall looks and feels good.
KTM bikes are known for their performance and handling. They mostly sell only naked bikes worldwide. Every bike in their respective segment performs well and generates good sales numbers.

This Duke 200 equipped with the same 199.5 cc petrol motor. This churns out the power delivery of 25 PS and 19.3 Nm of torque which is 0.1 Nm less than the BS4 motor but doesn’t create a significant change. It can only be noticed while doing a time-lapse. This motor is tuned the same as the previous one. There is a decent low-end torque and performance, mid-range is the sweetest spot for performance and mileage but as soon as you cross the 5000 RPM mark, it touches the redlines quickly and gives massive thrust on offer. The top speed is limited to 130 km/h. If we talk about vibrations on high-end revs, then it would be yes!. There are some vibrations we felt on the handlebars and near to the fuel tank, While riding, but it won’t make us feel uncomfortable to drive.
Ride and Handling
The new Duke 200 is more subtle than the previous in ride and handling but the power delivery is the same. However the overall weight is increased by 10 kg, but it doesn’t create any marginal difference in any aspect.
The wheelbase is the same as the previous but when it hits the corner, it behaves better and gives confidence to the rider by holding the line. But the BS4 version Duke behaves eagerly and doesn’t provide that much confidence on the corners. The ground clearance is also dropped by 10mm to offer more stability at high speeds.
There are no second thoughts for the performance of Duke 200 in this category. It gives much more power and riding experience than other bikes in this segment. But after the BS6 update, the price goes higher by RS 8,000-10,000. Which makes it a costly bike. The duke 200 bike is mainly popular is youth and college students. Which want performance and great looks. If you are planning to get one Duke 200 for you then take a look for Duke 250 and 390 maybe they fit in your budget because the price difference is not soo big and they offer you great value.
