The Jeep Jeepster would be available in hybrid and fully electric options.
The American automobile manufacturer is building a new compact SUV name ‘Jeep Jeepster’. Project No 510 is allocated to this SUV and it will compete with Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Tiguan, and MG Astor. It also gives neck-to-neck competition to the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder.
The platform will be an eCMP that also underpins some Citroen and Peugeot cars and it would be a 4.23-meter long SUV and reportedly will be offered with mild hybrid and fully electric variants. A 50 kWh Lithium-ion battery and a 10 kWh front-mounted battery will power the mild hybrid trims, which gives a range of approximately 321 kms. Jeep has recently confirmed that they are going to power their new compact SUV with all-wheel-drive modes. We are assuming that, if it ever launches in India then it will be power packed by the Citreon 1.2L Turbocharged petrol engine, which we can see in the recently launched Citroen C3.
Coming to the design, the front stands out with the Jeep’s signature seven slats grille with separate dual projector headlamps. There are possibilities that the Jeep Jeepster would get the design elements from the elder sibling Jeep Grand Cherokee PHEV.
The sides are packed with grey-finished bold alloy wheels with wide wheel arches and body cladding. The window line could have a chrome garnish and the roof rails are present but not functional. The rear section will have a shark fin antenna (limited top trims). The rear of the SUV is not shown in the leaked images but it could carry a set of LED tail lamps, some chrome garnish inserts, a rear window wiper, defogger, and rear diffuser.
If we talk about the interior, then we could see in the infotainment system derived from the Jeep Compass with apple car play, android auto, navigation, and rearview camera display, steering mounted control, automatic climate control, push start/stop button, ventilated seats, and sunroof.
