KTM RC 150 Overview

The KTM RC 150 is no different from its elder siblings in terms of sharp and edgy cutouts and sleek portions. The design language is similar to the RC 390, and each corner is sharp and chiseled to help cut air better. The front facia carries a dual projector headlight (one of high and one of low beam), ORVMs on the tall windshield glass, USD forks, significant radiator housing for better air intake, and tapered handlebars.
The engine is completely covered with the fairing on the sides, and KTM graphics are grafted onto it. The Steel Trellis Frame chassis, finished in orange, instantly catches eyeballs, and the contrast orange wheels complete the orange theme in the bike. Apart from this, the fuel tank is muscular and sculpted towards the handlebars, while the seat is slip section and the cushioning can be better, it adequate. All the footpegs are made of aluminum, and the exhaust tip is under the belly.
The rear section has a raised, tall, mounted LED tail light with LED turn indicators and a registration plate. The rear tyre size is larger than the front one to offer better grip at the back because the 149cc engine delivers power to the rear wheel.
The KTM RC 150 is powered by a 149cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that churns out 19 bhp of power and 14.5 Nm of peak torque mated to a 6-Speed gearbox. The power from the engine is quite nimble and a 0-60 kmph run can be done under 4 seconds, blisteringly fast. While the 0-100 kmph run can be completely under 11 seconds and the top speed is limited to 135 kmph.
The suspension duties on this bike have been taken care of by a 43 mm WP Apex Upside Down Forks at the front and WP Apex Mono-Shock shock absorbers at the rear with a travel of 120mm and 150mm, respectively. Whereas the braking is to be done by a 2-Channel ABS with 300 mm 4-Piston FIxed Callipers Disc at the front and 230 mm 1-Piston Floating Calliper Disc at the rear.

Competition

The Yamaha YZF-R15 V4 will be the direct competition to the KTM RC 150 in the 150cc segment. The R-15 is already dominating the segment with an ample number of sales per month. It comes powered by a 155cc LC4V, SOHC FI Engine with VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) technology. The 155c motor can produce power figures of 18.4 PS at 10,000 RPM and 14.2 Nm of torque at 7,500 RPM impaired by a 6-Speed constant mesh gearbox.
In power and torque, the KTM RC 150 has more power (+0.6 bhp) and more torque (+0.3 Nm). However, the difference in numbers is not significant but it does create a difference in real-world performance. This will be only examined when the RC 150 is launched in India and if the KTM RC 150 Price in India will set up at nearly Rs 1.75 lakh, then it’ll create a tough situation for the R15 V4.
Wrapping Up
The upcoming RC 150 from KTM will be a great product in the 150cc segment and also the buyers get a choice to choose from RC 150 or R15 V4. It gets the same aggressive styling, derived from its elder siblings, and crafted body graphics. It is a fully fairing bike, so the side is covered and the orange Chassis Silver Truss Frame glows like a star. The fuel tank is muscular and sculpted and the seat is a split one. However, the pillion has to struggle for comfort but can be managed for short drives.
Performance from the motor is too competitive, it’s more in bhp and more in nm than its competition. The engine is mated to a 6-Speed gearbox with a wet clutch and chain final drive. The braking is to be done by the 2-channel abs with 4-piston calipers at the front and 1-piston caliper at the rear. The front suspension has USB forks and the rear has Monoshock absorbers. With all these tech and features it becomes a great option to choose. Now let’s see when KTM launches this in India and what will be the KTM RC 150 Price in India.
